Construction of the new LEED Gold headquarters of Stopanska Banka, member of the NBG Group
About the project
The new headquarters of Stopanska Banka stands at the corner of Mirce Acev and Filip Vtori Makedonski streets, close to the Vardar riverfront in central Skopje. On a 2,566 m² plot with a footprint of 1,804 m², the 56.7 m building has a total built-up area of 17,893 m² across three basements, a ground floor and eleven upper floors. It houses more than 580 employees, along with a full-service branch, a data centre, the main vault, safe deposit boxes, and conference and training facilities.
Focal provided project, design and construction management services to Stopanska Banka throughout the development. Our scope included the review of the main design and building permit documentation, proposals for energy-efficient and sustainable solutions, monitoring of quality and programme across all construction phases, testing and commissioning, and regular reporting to the project's Steering Committee.
Focal also led the LEED certification process from design through construction. The building achieved LEED Gold certification, [the first in North Macedonia].
The bank's employees moved into the building in May 2026, and the headquarters was officially inaugurated on 1 October 2026 in the presence of the bank's leadership, the NBG Group and state officials.
