About the project

The project concerns one of the most significant concession projects ever executed in Greece and, more specifically, the refurbishment and expansion of 14 Regional Airports around Greece. This concession, which includes the airports of Aktio, Chania, Kavala, Kefalonia, Kerkyra, Kos, Mitilini, Mykonos, Rhodes, Samos, Santorini, Skiathos, Thessaloniki and Zakynthos, was awarded to “Fraport Regional Airports of Greece”, while this project concerned refurbishment & upgrading of these airports, in order to be sufficient to accommodate passenger and aircrafts, as well as expansion and development of new building sites, necessary for the correct and proper operation of the activities of the airports.
FOCAL Project Managers, acting as a sub-consultant of UK-based Mott MacDonald, provided consultancy services as Lenders Technical Advisor (LTA) to the Funding Banks. Main responsibilities included design review, construction monitoring, reporting, risk monitoring, procurement monitoring, quality monitoring, H&S monitoring, monitoring progress of works and KPIs, evaluating Contractor’s claims, variations orders, payment requests, reviewing completion procedures (snagging lists, supportive documentation) etc.
