Olympic Air / Aegean Hangar B56
Project Management & Green Renovation of Greece's First Aircraft Maintenance Service Center, Flight Simulator & Crew Training Center

About the project
Management and execution of the renovation and improvement of an old, inactive hangar at Athens International Airport, transforming it into Greece’s first green hangar dedicated to both light and heavy aircraft maintenance, as well as a state-of-the-art crew training center, including a flight simulator.
The facility also includes extensive auxiliary areas, as well as new office spaces, where part of the Aegean Airlines’ personnel has been relocated.
The building underwent some key changes, improving its energy efficiency and operational safety:
- Installation of 20,000 m² of photovoltaic panels, to reduce the building’s energy footprint
- Replacement of the roof insulation with high-performance, energy-efficient materials to optimize thermal performance and reduce energy consumption
- Replacement of air conditioning units for better performance
- Installation of an advanced fire suppression and detection system, significantly improving both operational safety and environmental impact
By prioritizing safety, efficiency, and sustainability, this project serves as a model for future green renovations in the aviation industry.
