About the project

Dominating Porto Heli bay, in Argolida, Greece, the originally conceived in the 1970's former Youli hotel, was converted to the Nikki Beach Resort & Spa.
The works comprised of the removal of all materials apart from the structural, and then reinforcing the concrete frame so as to meet the Eurocode 2 standards and seismic coefficients. The design and construction teams were challenged by the increased decay of the steel reinforcement, the high level of the water table and accommodating modern facilities in an existing outdated building. The works also included the installation of cutting edge MEP and application of advanced Mediterranean elements fused with high-end design in order to formulate this contemporary, refined and elegant lifestyle urban resort. Special attention was given to sustainability, energy efficiency and reduction of carbon footprint of the former hotel.
The re-constructed hotel was developed by Dolphin Capital Investors and Swiss Development Group and is part of the integrated community “Porto Heli Collection” realised by Zoniro S.A. The international consulting team led by Gatserelia Design in association with Athens-based Arch Group has produced an inspired design for 66 suites, Restaurant, Beach Club, Roof Bar, Spa and Yachting facilities. The site is a carefully selected and truly unique piece of coastal land with limitless potential and breath-taking unobstructed views. The Nikki Beach Resort & Spa opened in July 2014.
