10 Schools in the Region of Attica via a PPP, Greece

The Project concerned the construction of ten (10) school buildings of different sizes and types with a total GBA of more than 35.000 m2 on seven sites with a total area of approximately 51.800 m2. Four of the schools are within the limits of the inner city of Athens, one is in the northern suburbs of Athens and two are in provincial towns, within the prefecture of Attiki. The estimation was that these new schools would accommodate over 2.000 students.
Even though the building typology is the same, the challenge of this Project was that each and every school is unique as far as the size of the buildings and the site constraints are concerned.
Another significant aspect of the Project was the involvement of the Archeological Department, especially on sites where significant relics were unearthed. Building construction was modified to accommodate these findings.
