Winning Proposal for the Thessaloniki ConfEx Park

The International Architectural Design Competition for the Thessaloniki ConfEx Park has concluded, following a three-day meeting of the members of the Competition Jury, and the winning proposal has been announced. According to the Jury Report, the winning proposal, which was designed by Sauerbruch Hutton, Gustafson Porter + Bowman and Elena Stavropoulou, “proposes a strong concept with a high iconic potential based on the notion of free flowing ‘islands’ that offer interconnection and permeability among the buildings and the park”.

The second and third prizes were awarded to Lina Ghotmeh and UN Studio, respectively.

Apart from the aforementioned prize winners, the design entries included proposals by Amanda Levete, Valode & Pistre, Heatherwick, Bruther, Kengo Kuma, OMA, PROEM, ALA, Wilmotte, Sou Fujimoto, Hopkins, Wilkison Eyre.

Through Thessaloniki ConfEx Park redevelopment project, TIF-Helexpo S.A. envisions the creation of an Exhibition & Conference Center of the highest standards, which will become a landmark for the city of Thessaloniki and which will have a major impact on the Economy of Northern Greece.

Focal assisted and consulted the Jury for the competition as Construction Cost Expert.
