Inauguration ceremony for the 14 Regional Airports
The inauguration ceremony for the 14 Regional Airports (Thessaloniki, Kavala, Aktio, Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Chania, Corfu, Rhodes, Kos, Santorini, Mykonos, Mytilini, Samos, Skiathos) took place at “Makedonia” International Airport in Thessaloniki on the 19th of May 2021, in the presence of the Greek Prime Minister. Through this inauguration ceremony, the completion of the upgrade and remodeling of the Airports was announced by Fraport Greece.
The 14 Regional Airports, which were delivered 3 months earlier than the contractual deadline, have been transformed to 14 new, upgraded and safe Airports (5 new Terminals, 5 Terminal extensions and 4 remodeled Terminals). All Airports are now equipped with contemporary BHS systems, and include modern F&B and retail shops. In addition, 12 runways have been refurbished and 12 Rescue Firefighting Buildings have been constructed/refurbished.
Focal provided consultancy services as Lenders Technical Advisor (LTA) to the Funding Banks for this project.
