Privatisation of Greek Xenia Hotels initiated

July 2013

The process for the privatization of Xenia Hotels, such as the ones situated in the islands of Skiathos and Andros and in the seaside city of Etoloakarnania in Volos has been initiated.

Xenia Hotels, was a nation-wide hotel program initiated by the Hellenic Tourism Organization to improve the country’s tourism infrastructure in the 1960s and 1970s. Many of the hotels have been designed by well-known Greek architects and have been categorized as listed buildings, in view of their architectural value. Located in arguably the most advantageous locations of Greece, their architectural style, aesthetics and unique features have rendered them a landmark in the country’s hotel sector.
