Thess INTEC: Pioneering the Future of Technology and Innovation in Thessaloniki

The Presidential Decree for the development of the Thess INTEC, a 4th generation scientific and technological park, was officially signed and published in the Government Gazette, heralding a new era for Thessaloniki and the wider Greek innovation landscape. Located in the eastern part of Thessaloniki, the most populous city in northern Greece and one of the most important commercial hubs in the Balkans, this ambitious project spans over 760,000 square meters. The Special Urban plan has approved, outlining land use, building conditions, environmental approval, and the implementation of the Urban Planning Scheme.

The project enjoys robust financial backing, with 20 million euros from private funding and 35 million euros from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) allocated for the first phase, focusing on infrastructure and initial buildings. Additional investments include 25 million euros from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI) and 30 million euros from an Israeli fund, highlighting the project's collaborative nature. With the involvement of universities, HFRI, and international partners, Thess INTEC is on track to be completed within approximately 2.5 years.
